The Institute for Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology (IBMCP, UPV-CSIC) has received an extraordinary grant under the MaX-CSIC 2025 project, an initiative of the Spanish National Research Council aimed at supporting the development of excellence strategies across its research centres and institutes.
The grant, awarded within the DEEP-MaX-2025 call, provides €300,000 in funding and will enable IBMCP to move forward with strategic actions designed to strengthen its scientific positioning, internal organisation and capacity to generate high-impact knowledge in the field of plant biology and biotechnology.
The MaX-CSIC project, which stands for Framework for Self-Assessment and Evaluation of Scientific and Social Excellence-CSIC, aims to support CSIC centres in defining and implementing improvement plans, providing self-assessment tools, guidance and financial support to help them advance towards higher levels of scientific, institutional and social excellence.
For IBMCP, this grant represents a new endorsement of the centre’s trajectory and its commitment to high-quality research aimed at addressing global challenges related to sustainable food production, the agronomic and nutritional improvement of crops, and environmental protection.
This new funding adds to other recent milestones achieved by the Institute and reinforces IBMCP’s commitment to excellent, collaborative science with a strong capacity for knowledge transfer to society.
