Laura Zacarés, Head of Technology Transfer and Innovation at the Institute for Plant Molecular and Cell Biology (IBMCP, CSIC-UPV), represented the institute at SOMMa CONNECT 2026. Organised by SOMMa and the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), the event took place on 22 and 23 September at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park.
This year’s participation was especially meaningful for IBMCP. Following its recognition as a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence, the institute is joining the SOMMa community alongside other centres and units recognised for scientific excellence.
SOMMa CONNECT brought together representatives from research, business, investment and the wider innovation ecosystem to exchange experiences and explore opportunities for collaboration. For IBMCP, events of this kind help connect its knowledge, talent and technologies with the needs of other organisations and society.
Scientific excellence can have a greater impact when research results move beyond the laboratory. Building links with companies and other innovation partners is an important step towards turning knowledge into new solutions.
