The Institute for Plant Molecular and Cell Biology (IBMCP, CSIC-UPV) took part in Anecoop’s Technical Congress on 22 September at CaixaForum València. The event brought together more than 200 professionals to discuss the challenges facing the fruit and vegetable sector.
Laura Zacarés, Head of Technology Transfer and Innovation at IBMCP, joined Gonzaga Ruiz de Gauna, Director of BIOVEGEN, for the session “Creating the Future of Agriculture Together”, which focused on the opportunities offered by plant biotechnology.
Using real developments from IBMCP, Zacarés showed how research can help address challenges such as climate change, sustainability, productivity and changing market demands. She also highlighted the importance of turning scientific advances into practical applications for the agri-food sector, from cultivation to post-harvest processes.
Achieving this requires close collaboration between research centres and companies. Understanding the sector’s needs and sharing expertise can help translate scientific excellence into innovation and solutions with a tangible impact.
