From 25 to 28 January 2027, Valencia will host a meeting that brings together the scientific community and the biotechnology industry around CRISPR and New Genomic Techniques (NGTs). Abstract submission is open until 30 September.
The NGTs for Crops Congress 2027 will take place at the Palacio de Congresos de Valencia from 25 to 28 January 2027. This international congress is organised by the Institute for Plant Molecular and Cell Biology (IBMCP, CSIC-UPV) and exists thanks to the initiative and drive of our colleague Antonio Granell, who convenes it together with Dirk Inzé (Ghent University).
The congress aims to establish a high-level international forum of scientific excellence. It will bring together leading experts in genome editing and other new genomic technologies, and in their use to develop innovative plant varieties. The programme will cover NGTs from a scientific and technological perspective, as well as from a social and European one, with dedicated sessions on legislation and intellectual property.
A meeting point for science and industry
A distinctive feature of the congress is its focus on the private sector. The scientific programme will include a dedicated industry session and an exhibition area inside the Palacio de Congresos. Biotechnology and plant breeding companies working with CRISPR and other NGTs will be able to set up their own stand there to showcase their technologies, crops and products.
The goal is to encourage dialogue and collaboration between the scientific community and industry, and to create a lively meeting point for genome editing, new genomic techniques and their applications in agriculture.

We encourage all IBMCP research groups to take part in this major event. Registration is now open, and the abstract submission deadline is 30 September.
