The “2nd IBMCP Young Researcher Symposium”, conceived for the benefit of (although not restricted to) early career researchers, will take place on November the 11th 2019. This year, the symposium is markedly oriented towards potential career developmental pathways for PhD students and postdocs. To give a flavour of the potential professional options for such young researchers, we have invited speakers from research institutes, universities or companies across Europe that transitioned from PhD degree either to academia or to industry. In addition to the seminars, the last session of the symposium will be a round table in which academic and industry researchers will discuss pros, cons and specific aspects of career development in each of the two environments.
