On June 16, 2025, the María Zambrano Hall at Madrid’s Círculo de Bellas Artes hosted the ceremony for the 2025 AseBio Awards for Biotechnology Communication & Outreach, held to celebrate International Biotechnology Day. In this edition, our colleague Rosa Porcel received the prestigious Honorary Award in recognition of her outstanding track record in biotechnology science communication.

The event brought together over 60 professionals from the biotech sector, media, and communications, marking the culmination of a year-long selection process and a top-tier judging panel. Other categories awarded included press, TV & radio, and digital platforms.

Rosa, a professor at UPV and researcher and deputy director at IBMCP, has devoted much of her career to publicizing plant biotechnology’s impact—particularly drought tolerance and agricultural sustainability. This award celebrates her tireless efforts to bridge science and society and promote an informed, critical culture.

Congratulations, Rosa, and thank you for inspiring us all!
