Miguel Ángel Blázquez Rodríguez, researcher at the Institute of Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology (IBMCP, CSIC–UPV), has been awarded the 2025 Margarita Salas Medal by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), in recognition of his outstanding career as a supervisor of early-career researchers.
This distinction highlights his significant contribution to the training and mentoring of new generations of scientists, and adds to a long list of achievements that have strengthened the institute’s leadership in plant biology research.
The award ceremony will take place on 8 October 2025 at 18:00 at the CSIC Headquarters Auditorium (C/ Serrano 117, Madrid), during the joint event for the 3rd Margarita Salas Medal, 2nd María Moliner Award, and 3rd CSIC Outstanding Thesis Award.

The Margarita Salas Medal includes a €6,000 prize, which will revert to the IBMCP. This is another example of the recognition that researchers from joint CSIC–UPV institutes continue to receive.
