PRINCIPALES LÍNEAS DE INVESTIGACIÓN

1. Caracterización de los genes y funciones esenciales en el ciclo infeccioso de virus pertenecientes a los grupos de los Ilar y Carmovirus que afectan de manera importante a árboles frutales y cultivos de interés agrícola.
2. Estudios sobre el movimiento intra- e intercelular de virus y viroides en sus huéspedes susceptibles.
3. Tráfico de proteínas y RNAs a través del floema.
4. Silenciamiento de RNA en el proceso de patogénesis de virus y viroides.
5. Desarrollo y mejora de nuevos métodos de diagnosis viral basados en el componente genómico de los virus.

COLABORACIONES CON EMPRESA

La profundización en el conocimiento de los mecanismos de expresión de virus que afectan a árboles frutales, a ornamentales y a especies hortícolas ha posibilitado su aplicación a resolver aspectos prácticos de ciertas virosis problemáticas para el Sector socioeconómico correspondiente. Se han establecido diversos convenios de investigación y transferencia de resultados con empresas y/o organismos públicos: Barberet y Blanc S.
