«DNA Repair and Transcription Explored by Single-Cell and Single-Molecule Imaging«

Abstract:

I have long been fascinated by the extraordinary degree of compaction of the DNA inside the cell nucleus and the yet dynamically orchestrated organization necessary to regulate and guide complex cellular processes. Single cell/single molecule techniques avoid ensemble averaging and allow capturing previously unobtainable detail or heterogeneous behaviour, rendering them particularly powerful in elucidating mechanisms of cell function at the molecular level. In my talk, I will present how these methods have enabled us to delve deeper into the molecular mechanisms associated with DNA damage repair and transcription in plants.
