Seminar Ignacio Rubio Somoza (Crag, Barcelona) 14th Of May 12:30

Seminar Date and Time:May 14, 2021 12:30 am

Ignacio Rubio-Somoza is since 2016 the PI at the Molecular Reprogramming and Evolution (MoRE) at the Centre of Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG, Barcelona, Spain). Ignacio obtained his bachelor degree at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) to move later on for his Master studies to the CBM “Severo Ochoa”-UAM and The Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM, Spain). He obtained his PhD from the UPM working on transcriptional control of two antagonistic developmental programs within seed biology. After a short postdoc stay at Roberto Solano Lab (CNB, Madrid, Spain), he moved to the MPI for Developmental Biology to pursued his postdoctoral research working with Prof. Detlef Weigel. The more lab is currently focused in understanding how plants interrelate with their associated microbes. The two main current research lines in the lab revolve around the evolution of the arms race at RNA silencing between plants and their pathogens, and the evolution of the hormone-mediated plant-microbe communication. Ignacio will be presenting the latest results obtained in the first of those research lines focusing on the role of miRNA targets in plant immunity. Ignacio will also tell us about the results obtained so far on their work to understand the evolution of such role.
