Metabolomics

Description

The IBMCP Metabolomics Platform performs metabolomic analysis from plant samples through chromatographic and mass spectrometry techniques. All our services include sample extraction and analysis.

VOLATILE COMPOUNDS (GC-MS)

Targeted and untargeted analysis of volatile compounds. Broad experience in different tissues and plant species. Analysis is performed using head space – solid phase microextraction coupled to gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS coupled HS-SPME). Metabolite identification is achieved by comparison with authentic standards (custom-made database with over 400 compounds) and NIST2017 database.

PRIMARY METABOLISM (GC-MS)

Primary metabolism profile (sugars, aminoacids, and organic acids) through derivatization and GC-MS. We perform extraction, derivatization and analysis. Identification and relative quantitation of the metabolites included in our custom-made database (80 compounds; compound list sent under request)

CHLOROPHYLLS, CAROTENOIDS, AND TOCOPHEROLS

Joint analysis of chlorophylls, carotenoids, and tocopherols through HPLC-PDA-fluorescence.

SECONDARY METABOLISM

Targeted and untargeted secondary metabolism analysis through UPLC-MS with relative quantification of differential compounds.

TARGETED ANALYSIS

We perform absolute quantification of metabolites of interest for the scientific community and agronomic companies: Vitamins (C, E, B3, B5), polyamines, crocins, and nucleosides. For new methods development and other compounds of interest, fell free to contact us.

ETHYLENE ANALYSIS

Ethylene analysis in green tissue and fruits, measurement of ethylene accumulation and real-time emission.

Rules, applications, fees

GENERAL RULES

Internal users (IBMCP members):

1. Request the service at Gestcompras

2. Fill in the questionnaire available below indicating:

-A short description of the experimental design

-Kind of analysis requested

-Name and exact weight of the samples

And send it to: aespino@ibmcp.upv.es

2. Once your request has been accepted, bring the samples to us (Lab 2.06)

3. Samples will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis

External users:

1. Fill in the questionnaire available below indicating:

-A short description of the experimental design

-Kind of analysis requested

-Name and exact weight of the samples

And send it to: aespino@ibmcp.upv.es

2. Once the petition has been accepted, external users will receive an order form (Hoja de encargo) which must be sent back to us firmed and stamped (or with e-signature). The samples will be processed once we get back the signed document.

3. On completion of the work, together with the report, external users will get a delivery note (nota de entrega) which also must be sent back signed and stamped.

4. After the completion of the work to the full satisfaction of the external user, the invoice will be issued.

The material for analysis must be sent ground and frozen in dry ice or liquid nitrogen. Please contact us to discuss the amount of sample required for each kind of analysis.
